My Path Through The Flames

Television is Evil

Written By: Tammie - Apr• 02•12

Another busy day but I kept it all together.  Breakfast = yogurt with bird seed, well not exactly, that is just what my children call it. Chia seeds, hemp seeds and buckwheat groats; is apparently bird seed in their minds.  I started adding cacao nibs to it and it is delightful.  Lunch brought egg salad with celery sticks and dinner was ground beef with a load of veggies.

Here is where things started to go to off the rails before I jumped back on track and righted the train.  Watching TV is NOT a good thing when trying to eat healthy.  I decided to get on my bike tonight and watch some television.  So I am pedaling away watching the news, the Coronation Street (yes I am a Corrie fan so what?  So are millions of people around the world!  Geesh!)  then Big Bang came on and that is when all the food commercials started.  So I am sitting there and suddenly I am craving Frosty Flakes.  I have not eaten Frosty Flakes since I was 12!  My mouth started to water and all I could think of was Frosty Flakes until the next round of commercials.  I also had this urge to go to Canadian Tire and pick out new patio furniture, weird.  So pedaling away then it hit me I really should pick up some Easter cream eggs and perhaps a jug of Tropicana.  Wait a minute!  Easter cream eggs?  I hate those things, they are way too sweet but why was I craving them?  Hmmm a nice cold glass of beer, yeah that is what I wanted oh wait, yeah Folgers coffee that would hit the spot.  Ok so I must be delirious, Folgers coffee, yuck!  I got off the bike and took a look through the fridge.  Yum celery and hummus, ok I must step away from the TV for a bit.

I think the best way to solve the obesity epidemic is to go back to the TV when I was a kid.  Two channels, CBC and CTV.  Saturday nights were a hoot, Lawrence Welk on one channel and hockey on the other.  I think I will sue TV commercials for my health issues, or just stop watching them.

Going to bed now to dream of Tony the tiger……..
